want to be on japanese tv?
Posted by rameniac at 07:03 PM | 27 Feb 2007
Mariko Daicho is a producer at TV Tokyo. Apparently they want to film college students in the tri-state area eating instant noodles for a program on ramen in the United States. I doubt anyone from that area is really reading the site since I haven’t made my way over there yet, but I suppose i should put the word out!
This is what she said in the email:
Since instant ramen is very popular among college students, I would like to film and interivew some college students who eat instant ramen all the time. I would prefer to film in New York City. Do you know any college students in New York who would be willing to let us film at their house or college dorm eating ramen? Could you possibly post on your blog my request for a ramen loving college student in the NYC area (NY-NJ-CT)?
My time frame is tight. I’d need to complete filming by Friday, March 9th.
I appreciate any help.

A
friend just sent me this picture of a
fourteen dollar bowl of ramen she slurped down in Vegas at the MGM Hotel’s Grand Wok & Sushi Bar during CES last week. If a top flight Japanese ramen shop were to open in L.A., heck I’d pay $40 for a bowl. But
fourteen bucks for this? I’ll stick to the buffets and 99 cent shrimp cocktails next time I’m out in the desert. At least “the egg was yummy,” she testified.

rameniac t-shirts… coming soon?!

Are rameniac t-shirts on the horizon? Well, for now I made a few prototypes (regular and uh, limited edition “extra noodle” variant) and gave them out as holiday gifts. Hand-screened for that gritty feel and one-of-a-kindness. Nothing beats DIY! This doesn’t apply to ramen of course, because the old guy with the cart will
always make it better than you.
