Just a heads up that the 50th anniversary of the launch of Chikin Ramen (Momofuku Ando’s first ramen product) is on Monday, Aug 25. It originally went on sale Aug 25, 1958. Nissin has a (Japanese-only) 50th anniversary celebration at its website.

thanks for the tip andy! i’d heard rumblings about this but have been out of commission after having had eye surgery. slowly getting back into things… i think i know what i’ll write about next =)
