Are there any Ra-men shops in Riverside County (Southern California)?

Southern California definitely has more Ra-men shops than other states but I can’t really find any that are close to me. As far as I know the closest one is “wakai sushi & Ramen House” in Fullerton but I have been there and their Ra-men is not very good. The second closest shop to me is in Costa Mesa called “san tou ka” which is pretty good but it is too far away so I can’t go very often.

Is there any Ra-men Shops in Riverside County? If someone knows please let me know!

Thanks!

ah yea, i haven’t really heard of anything in the inland empire. but i’ll definitely keep an eye out and ask around. i’m gonna start investigating the orange county places soon, so maybe there’s something (fairly) close to you?

one alternative is the rowland heights/diamond bar area, there are quite a few shops out there like ikkyu and foo foo tei and now akaoni. not sure but it might even be closer to you then going down to fullerton… a straight drive on the 60 freeway.

if you’re looking for something better than santouka though, i’ve been looking and i still haven’t found anything!

My favorite place is actually in Downtown L.A. in Little Tokyo (Mr. Ramen) as more than soup I really like good noodles and they have really good noodles. I also liked Mitae Ra-men which was next to santouka (which I went to last night) but it looks like they shut down recently. Anywhere in Fullerton is pretty good but the Wakai Sushi & Ramen place just isn’t very good (IMHO). I work in Brea so anything in fullerton is really close to my work.

Also foo foo tei (looking on yahoo) is about 16 miles away from work which is manageable.

I have been limited to finding places that do Ra-men by looking up “ramen” in yahoo yellow pages search so if they don’t have ramen in their name I am not finding them. Where is the ikkyu? I did a search on yahoo YP and didn’t find anything. Have an address?

haha sorry… ‘ikkyu’s listed english name i think is “It’s Q” but that kind of weirds me out.

“一休” is the kanji name i believe.

they have a “yuzu” ramen with a yuzukosho paste that you can add into a tonkotsu soup. they say they’re hakata-style but it’s kind of different; it’s closer to daikokuya in spirit and is not bad actually. mix in the spicy yuzu and i rather like it.

ack, i was just looking into trying mitae! >_<

i met someone this weekend, a fullerton student, who went to wakai ramen once and got served a ROTTEN EGG in the noodles apparently!

it just makes me want to try it even more. i guess i’m secretly hoping for a new lowest score… hehehe

fyi: Wakai Sushi and Ramen has closed and is now just some sushi place. From the sounds of it that’s probably a blessing. Akaoni Ramen has a menu on the wall with a Space For Lease sign. And It’s Q or Ikkyu is now Katana Sushi and Ramen. I just thought I’d post an update.  grin After all, they’ve wasted my “merciless” time…haha.

I never got to try akaoni but i heard it wasn’t that bad. I’ll probably check out katana this weekend so i’ll let you know how it is. I’ve only been to tampopo and foo foo tei in that area. Oh, and also ramen shisho but that closed too. I passed by igosi ramen on nogales and colima a few weeks ago but didn’t have the heart to walk in. I may try it someday if there’s nothing better to do. But non-ramen related, i really recommend the new ucc coffee house on colima and fairway if you’re in that area. They have j-style french toast and spaghetti and omu-rice and good coffee and more…
