I enjoyed reading about ramen in the LA Times today. I would love to discover the world of ramen, but being a vegetarian I am limited to what I can enjoy at a typical Japanese restaurant. Are there any recommendations for excellent vegetarian ramen here in LA?
Thanks!

i can recommend mr ramen because they have a vegetarian menu. i love their ramen with seaweed, you can add tofu for $1 more if you want. there’s not a lot of vegetarian ramen places in the world so mr ramen is worth trying. their address is in this site and unfortunately has bad review. but it doesn’t bother me because everyone is entitled to their own opinion. let me know if you like it.

if you are anywhere near a mitsuwa, they’ve had a vegetarian instant ramen on store shelves lately… it’s called “nana tokachi nitsu seimen” and has vegetarian logos printed all over it. haven’t tried it yet but it looks kind of interesting, might be worth picking up in case it starts to disappear off shelves like many of them often do!

Yeah, I think I have to agree with mitchsam on this. I really like Mr. Ramen. I think it is because I myself am more of a noodle guy than a soup guy (but that is just me). I like Mr. Ramen better than santouka although my favorite place is Darumanome in Japan. I have only been to the Akihabara branch so I can’t comment on any of the other ones but they have really good noodles too. I always order the Cha-syu- at Mr. Ramen but that has pork so it wouldn’t be for you but as mitchsam says they have vegetarian stuff too.

there’s a small place called Takeshi Ramen in Glendale on Brand Blvd. i go there sometimes too cuz it’s close to my home. they have a vegetarian menu but you have to ask the manager for it otherwise you’ll get regular fare. somehow the waiters don’t know about it. Ha-ha. sorry i don’t know the exact address. it’s close to Borders and within the Marketplace.
